Die Millionärs-Bibel: Lebe wie die reichsten Menschen der Welt

I was not aware that Tess Gerritsen had also written 'romance' novels. Although the story is good and held a lot of promise had she developed it into a serious suspense, it did not live up to my expectations. Jul 02, Erica Stinson rated it really liked it. I thought that the book was pretty suspenseful and well written. I really enjoyed the story and it was a nice quick read for the weekend.

As always, I really do enjoy my Tess Gerritsen novels.

Call After Midnight

May 28, Linda rated it really liked it. If you follow my reviews you'll know that I love Tess Gerritsen. This book is an early one for her. I really liked it but it's not on the same par as the books that she has written since this book. This one seems like more of a romance mixed in with the mystery, murder, and intrigue of her usual books.

It's still a ton better than many other mystery books, though.

Das gewagte Spiel des Millionärs

The story starts with a phon If you follow my reviews you'll know that I love Tess Gerritsen. The story starts with a phone call in the middle of the night. Sarah Fontaine is expecting a phone call from London from her newlywed husband, Geoffrey. Instead it's the State Department calling to tell her that her husband was killed in a hotel fire- in Berlin. She's convinced he's still alive. Nick, who had called her from the State Department, also feels that something isn't right. Soon he is intrigued with Sarah and you know where that is going.

They end up crisscrossing Europe in a deadly game of espionage and Sarah might be the target- or the lure to get her husband of many aliases to come out. Aug 10, The Logophile rated it liked it. His wife, Sarah, searches for the truth and is led on an espionage chase around Europe. Gerritsen combines romance, action, and violence into neatly packed pages. However, this also results in the character substance slightly lacking. The characters were stock and not very believable. The plot was quite standard, but well thought through. Although I found Sarah irritating and two-dimensional, I enjoyed Nick's character.

He was the most rounded character of the book, and the most believable. Although I wasn't too impressed, Gerritsen did leave me with enough that I am now reading the first of her Rizzoli and Isles series The Surgeon , which I am finding a lot more enjoyable. Aug 12, Denise Bt rated it liked it. I would give this 3. The murder mystery part was entertaining.

The story begins with an attempted murder and a faked suicide. When the newlywed widow is informed of her husbands death she can't believe it.

She winds up tying to get to the truth with the help of the State Department's Nick O'Hara, who also suspects that something is rotten in Denmark. The CIA, FBI and a very powerful bad man are all trying to use Sara to find her not so dead husband who turns out to be something other than what she believed.

The problem with the story for me was the romance part. It was very, very cheesy and not very realistic. The dialogue that took place actually made me roll my eyes.

That part did not need to be in the book. So if you can get past some terrible Harlequinish romance writing you will probably enjoy the rest of the book. I am in a reading slump at the moment and that's why I wanted to pick something fun, fast-paced and entertaining. This book was all of those things and I really enjoyed reading this book.

I knew that Tess Gerritsen writes books which are half chick lit and half thrillers. I enjoyed the thriller part a lot but I was not fan of the romance. The romance was insta love for me. The author also told multiple times that Sarah is very smart person but I think Sarah made many "stupid" desicions in the book and I don't think she was very smart.

I will read more Tess Gerritsen's books after this one because I enjoyed this story and I think she knows how to write really good thrillers. Aug 21, Theresa Marini rated it it was ok. I have to say, I was very disappointed with this book. I'm a huge fan of Tess Gerritsen's books, particularly the Rizzoli and Isles books not so much the tv show and I've always found her writing gripping and her characters smartly written. Call After Midnight was a total let down. I honestly can't believe Tess Gerritsen wrote it.

I felt like I was reading a Mary Higgins Clark novel from the s. The characters were ridiculous and the dialogue was truly cringe worthy. If you're looking for I have to say, I was very disappointed with this book. If you're looking for a smart read, this isn't it. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. And for me, this was definitely the worst one I've read. But I kept hoping it would get better, so I continued reading. I didn't like the main character and her 'falling in love' within 24 hours after her new husband they'd only been married for a couple of months allegedly died was just too much. And the way she escapes the top killer of the story is just so unlikely that I wanted to slap the writer As much as I like many of Gerritsen's books, I definitely have problems with her earlier work.

And the way she escapes the top killer of the story is just so unlikely that I wanted to slap the writer for even coming up with this story. A waste of my time.
